Valentine
Will you be my valentine, can I trust my heart to you?
If I can't give you everything, will a lifetime of love make do?

Just a children’s game was all - putting homemade valentines in little bags tacked to the wall.
But we believed in what the verses said,  enough for childhood romance to grow till we were wed

Will you be my valentine, can I trust my heart to you?
If I can't give you everything, will a lifetime of love make do?

Just a young couple’s dreams were all - starting a home in the spring, and a family by the fall.
We believed in the stars in our own eyes, but as the years went by we began to realize
that so many things cannot be romanticized, and simple words of love began to look like foolish lies
So will you be my valentine?
So many times we were so close to giving in to the strains and the tears and the pressures without end.
But we remained believers, who knows how?  Promises then are promises now,
love is the simple truth, and the simple truth still counts.

So will you be my valentine, can I trust my heart to you?
If I can't give you everything, will a lifetime of love make do?

Someday when we’re old and gray we can look down the long road behind,
and I’ll say I am glad to have spent my life with you as my valentine.
     Will you be my valentine?

                           We Need Volunteers
Someone to look up to is getting hard to find,
the signature of a hero now is only made for dollar signs
It used to be that our idols were supposed to have ideals,
but the only goals of those in starring roles are better paying deals
We could do without the celebrities and their nationwide appeal
with enough unknowns who are close to home, whose examples are for real,
but devoted mothers and any kinds of dads at all very often don’t appear
and too many preachers and even teachers stay too wrapped up in their careers

We need volunteers, at least the children do, they need someone who they can look up to
Every day of every year they’re gonna find someone to be learning from
   Whose followers will they become?
We need volunteers, at least the children do, they need someone who they can grow up to

We need someone to be truthful, to mean the words they say
We need someone to be faithful, who will refuse to run away
We need someone to be hopeful to bring us visions from afar
We need those who aren’t as good as those above to live as though they are

We need volunteers, at least the children do, they need someone who they can look up to
Every day of every year they’re gonna find someone to be learning from
   Whose followers will they become?
What roles do we provide for them to grow into?
Are there no good men and women left so they could know a few?
How can they believe in goodness if they’ve never seen it?
We say we want them to grow strong but do we really mean it?
We need volunteers, at least the children do, they need someone who they can grow up to,
Because someone to look up to is getting hard to find.

                                 Witness Tree
Will you meet me at the witness tree,  can you bring your truth and raisel it over me?
Can the veil be lifted so that we can see all the wonder and the glory
that we were meant to be?

All the years we kept believing  All the days when the world kept going by
unshed tears, unspoken grieving, never guessing when, never seeing how,
never understanding why
Will you meet me at the witness tree,  can you bring your truth and roll it over me?
Can the clouds be parted so that we can see all the wonder and the glory
that we were meant to be?

In the time of ever ending, in the fear of never meant to be
With all we ever had depending on a quiet hope, on a still small voice,
in an endless plea
Will you meet me at the witness tree,  can you bring your truth and breathe it into me?
Can the sky be opened so that we can see all the wonder and the glory
that we were meant to be?
